– These sculptures allow locals and tourists to find them – commissioned by different artists to decorate – sculpture auction money for charity – Different decorations attract people of different cultural backgrounds to find and explore In 2015, Shaun the Sheep starred in Shaun in the City, two charity arts trails across Bristol and London, organised by Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation. 120 colourful, creative sculptures designed by artists and household names from the worlds of film, art, animation and fashion, adorned iconic locations and green spaces across the cities in spring and summer.
“The magical sculpture trail featured 45 large scale Snowdog sculptures, inspired by the much loved animated short film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog. Our Snowdogs, which were beautifully decorated by artists and generously sponsored by local businesses, were on the streets around Brighton & Hove in the Autumn of 2016. They were also joined by a pack of Snowdog puppy sculptures designed by local school children. The trail finished with a hugely successful auction which raised £337,900, giving us the ability to continue to support those living through terminal illness in and around Brighton and Hove.” https://www.themartlets.org.uk/snowdogs-by-the-sea
Herd About The Prairie: A Virtual Art Stampede resulted in 39 full-size bison and 1 calf that were all created in a minimum 90-day timeframe by different local artists that were selected by a jury. There were also 10 tabletop bison that were created as an option for those that didn’t have the money (or space) to spend on a full-size bison. Of these 100lb fiberglass statues, any which were not kept by their sponsors were then allowed to be purchased via a public auction. All proceeds from the auction went back to the Lake Agassiz Art Council to continue doing creative work within the FM community and support the artists and art organizations that make up their association. Where can you find all of these gems, you ask? With some in other parts of ND/MN region, there are approximately 20 of these beauties that can be easily found in the FM area. These bison are well-tempered and will allow selfies (don’t try this in the wild, people!). You can see photos of some of the bison on this Pinterest board. Here’s where the bison can be found, and if you’re on a mission to see as many as possible, this map of their locations might be helpful.” The Last Supper is an installation of 500 china plates with illustrations of the last meal which inmates requested before being executed in the United States since 1990. Potters for Peace (PFP) is a US-based non-profit organization established in 1986 with a mission to assist potters in developing countries to preserve their skills. One of the main projects which they have been involved since 1998 is Ceramic Water Purifiers (CWP). CWP is silver-enhanced ceramic water purifier which produced by local potters in parts of the world where clean drinking water is scarce. PFP has helped poor and rural communities worldwide get access to clean drinking water, but instead of manufacturing these filters, they help local communities to set up independent filter workshops to produce and sell the filters by themselves. From the Website: Every year 1.7 million people, mainly children under the age of five, die from diarrhea which is caused by unsafe water. The objective of the Potters for Peace Water Filter Project is to make safe drinking water available by helping set up workshops that will produce ceramic water filters made from local materials. These filters are low-tech and low-cost and eliminate approximately 99.88% of water-born disease agents. Since 1998, Potters for Peace has been assisting in the production of a low-tech, low-cost, colloidal silver-enhanced ceramic water purifier (CWP) throughout the world and ceramic water purifiers based on the Potters for Peace technology package are now produced at over 50 independent factories in over 30 countries. These filters are the highest-rated product for rural point-of-use water treatment.
